Anchor Queens Park Rangers have maintain their position at the top of the table of the Digicel Premier League with a victory on Sunday over archrivals Fontenoy United. Ricky “Curry” Charles opened the score sheet early in the first half. Then late in the second half Fontenoy United equalize from a direct free kick from former national midfielder Kennedy “Tinman” Phillip. However, it only took three minutes for Charles again, netting his second goal by bending the ball around the Fontenoy goalkeeper. Scores at the end of the match: Anchor Queens Park Rangers 2, Fontenoy United 1. Over at Fond in St. Patrick's, Police had to overcome a large crowd support to earn victory over last year first division champions Dano Eagles Super Strikers 2-1. Dennis Rennie delighted the Police Supporters with the two goals. It was disappointing for Eagles as they came of an impressive victory over Hard Rock in their previous match. Police is unbeaten thus far. Springs open their playing season with an away loss to Hard Rock at Plains also on Sunday. National Defender Keron Panchoo netted the only goal of the match. It is the second win for Hard Rock in as many as three matches. Today, Hurricane will take on the might of defending champions ASOMS Paradise over at the Alston George Park. Paradise won their opening encounter 3-1 against Eagles Super Strikers. |
